Note: Pennisetum alopecuroides is a perennial Fountain Grass and forms dense clumps of foliage with foxtail inflorescence in the late summer through fall. The selection 'Hamlin' has bright green foliage and silvery-white flowers. 'Mourdy', also known as Black Fountain Grass, has deep maroon flowers that appear black. Although showy, Pennisetum alopecuroides is sensitive to root rot and will decline in wet years. 'Mourdy' has also proved to be a prolific seeder and ample volunteer seedlings can be found in the spring. Campus Location: Julian C. Miller Hall, below patio |
